Sadly, anxiety has become a fact of life for many. Seemingly, it is almost a given of modern Western life. Its impact on quality of life and on physical health is widely known. There are several techniques that when practiced with some regularity can significantly reduce the impact of anxiety (stress). I often teach these techniques to my clients. They are mindfulness, self-hypnosis, deep abdominal breathing and progressive relaxation. Each, on their own or in combination, provides short-term relief from anxiety and supports long-term resistance to the causes of anxiety.
